After much thought and discussion, we at Ruby Bodeker for Iowa HQ made the difficult decision to postpone our Iowa County Kickoff scheduled for Saturday, March 14 at the Marengo Public Library.
This is not something we wanted to do but given recent guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention regarding coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) plus the number of local events canceled over the last 24 hours, we believe postponing our kickoff is in the best interest of the residents of Iowa County. We want to ensure continuing health and safety in our community. We plan to be present at the library during the kickoff’s scheduled time on Saturday, but will not be holding an official event.
We will keep you updated as we work to reschedule!
We also have a favor to ask of you! We hope you will take a moment this weekend to reach out virtually to at least one person—friend, family member, working Iowan, union member, youth voting for the first time in November, teacher, fellow church member, anyone you know in #HD75—and tell them why you’re #ReadyforRuby! Then tag us on Facebook or Twitter with your conversation! This is a grassroots campaign—made of prairie voices working hard for a sustainable future in rural Iowa. We need to spread the roots of our message to everyone we know!
Please visit our website, rubyforiowa.com to learn more about our campaign, sign up to be a future volunteer, or join our book club! Yes, we’re starting a book club! And don’t forget to follow us on Facebook and Twitter. It will soon be kidding time on Prairie Creek Farm (baby dairy goats!) and you definitely don’t want to miss all the cute posts of #RubysKids. Talk soon. Remember, #WeLiveHereToo.—Ruby
